1.    Westenschouwen Burgh-Haamstede is located on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland in the province of Zeeland, in the southwestern part of the Netherlands. 

2.    The name "Burgh" is derived from the Dutch word "Burg," which means fortress, and refers to the village's past as a fortified settlement.

3.    Westenschouwen & Burgh-Haamstede has a rich history, and artifacts dating back to the Roman era have been found in the area. During the Middle Ages, the region was an important trading centre and was known for its production of wool and cloth.

4.    In the 17th and 18th centuries, the area was heavily fortified as part of the Dutch Water Line, a series of defensive structures that were designed to protect the Netherlands from invasion.
